5 Affirmations for When Your Body Image Sucks

5 Affirmations for When Your Body Image Sucks

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. You look in the mirror and instantly start criticizing yourself. This is not good for your mental, or physical, health, babe. Let’s talk about what we can do even on the days when our body feels “bleh.”

These are 5 affirmations I use to help get me back in a better headspace of loving my body.

Be grateful for your body, no matter what stage it’s currently in. This is so simple, yet powerful. I say to myself that I’m grateful for my body, and then I name a few positive attributes (I’m strong, I’m powerful, etc.). This is one of my go-to morning affirmations, bad body image day or not.

Your value is not determined by the number on a scale - it’s measured by the love you show yourself. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, the number on the scale should not be your #1 fitness goal. In fact, I think it’s one of the least important goals that should be on the list. And that number definitely shouldn’t determine anyone’s worth.

Your body is a masterpiece, a work in progress, and you are the artist. Remind yourself that you’re a work in progress, mentally and physically. We’re constantly working to make ourselves better, and we shouldn’t punish ourselves for not being at the perceived “finish line” yet. Masterpieces take time - remember that.

Your body is the vessel of your dreams - treat it with kindness and gratitude. You only get this one body in this lifetime. Treat your body like you would your best friend - listen to it, be kind to it, and be grateful for it.

True beauty is found in authenticity. Be unapologetically yourself. True authenticity is BEAUFTIFUL. And being authentic means acknowledging that sometimes you struggle. You’re not perfect. And all the imperfect parts of you are what makes you unique. Be you, and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks.
